The lake sits at an altitude of 2,511 meters above sea level and is famous for its stunning turquoise-blue waters, which change color depending on the season and weather conditions.

No, swimming or approaching the shoreline is prohibited because the lake is a protected water source.
At the moment, a road is being built and travel to the BAO is prohibited for private transport. It is possible to start hiking from the lower parking lot. The length of the route is about 7 km. one way.
Big Almaty Lake is closer and easier to visit, while Kolsai Lake is better for multi-day tours.
On the lake itself, mobile internet works well. Connections are intermittent along the way.
Yes, camping is allowed in designated areas on the eastern side of the lake.
From May to October, when roads are open and the weather is pleasant. Winter access may vary.
No permit is needed for general visits, but passport or ID is required at the checkpoint.
Foxes, marmots, birds of prey, and occasionally mountain goats can be spotted in the area.
